Hi everyone!
Homework reminders for this year...
The expectation is that Grade 5 and 6 students will complete at least 30 minutes of homework a night. This will be made up of READING, SPELLING, MATHS PRACTISE and homework tasks as per our team assignment sheets.
A reading log is on the back of each homework assignment sheet, please remember to fill it in and track your reading.

Maths practice
Here are some links to online maths games and activities that will give you some opportunities to practice your maths skills. Most of these are not iPad friendly so you'll have to see if someone at home will let you use their laptop or computer.

Weeks 9 and 10 Term 3
Welcome to Week 9... Wow!
To begin this week on the HOMEWORK front - we would like to see everyone fully up-to-date with all their learning tasks from the past few weeks. This is the time when you kick back if you have been MAXIMISING your in class learning time. For some of you there will be a few tasks that need your attention.
REMEMBER:
Everyone is expected to be reading at least 3-4 times a week, practising basic facts and times tables and picking up words from your writing and folder word lists to learn.
Here is a task for those of you who are up-to-date and like to keep your brains engaged and extended...
Choose one of the following essay topics.
Reading is important.
Advantages and disadvantages of technology.
Sport makes the world go around.
St Joan of Arc was a woman before her time.
Schools need to change.
My family.
Learning Intentions:
Task:
Develop an essay using the writing scaffold below (statement of contention is your topic sentence)
You may need to find out a little more about your topic (research) so remember to record your information sources.
Remember to draft, edit and then publish your work. (You may choose how you publish your essay)
You will need to hand in your essay plan, your draft essay and your published essay.
