Sooo winners have been announced... and though we were as a school very well represented in the top 10% of entries no one made it through to the winning places. I am still super proud of your writing efforts and the great stories you put together to enter this competition. Here is the link to the winning writing: Take a close look at the winning writing and the runners up. Think about what these pieces of writing contain or 'do' that your pieces maybe did not, and think about the ways you could start working this into your own writing... there is always next year for the competition!

Hi there week 7! You did not take long to arrive!! It will be a great week catching up with each other as we share our Grade 6 Camp and Grade 5 Leadership days with each other. We have a pretty regular week and can look forward to an inter-school sport challenge on Friday. Don't forget library books on Tuesday and sports uniforms on Thursday and Friday. Today we will check out a new online writing tool: Kidsblog. I have sent you all an email which will get you to the right place and has your logon information on it. I can't wait to read what you put together! Also check out the new links I have popped into our sidebar on this page - Brainbashers and Jokes... always great to stretch the brain in different ways?! Let's have a great week everyone! Enjoy the camp pics. Mrs H Here is a link for our card instructions http://www.homemade-gifts-made-easy.com/homemade-card-ideas.html#templates Inside your card you will write your simile and metaphor poem for your mum....
E.g. Similies.... My mum is like the sun's rays, always warm and sunny My mum's eyes are as blue as Fijian waters. My mum's heart is as big as Western Australia and as gentle as a butterfly's touch. Metaphors... My mum is a referee, always making things fair. My mum is a taxi driver getting me to my sports practises and games. My mum is a clown who always makes me laugh and smile Think about commenting on things about your mum that are not just physical - her qualities, things she does for you. |
